After years of buying all my beans from sweetmarias,
it looks like that's over. I can't access their website
from either my PC or Mac iBook. I haven't received
any response to the e-mail I sent last week.

So, I need a new vendor. Who's good? I mostly buy
Sumatran, but sometimes I'll consider a Columbian.

Correct. There is nothing wrong with the Sweet Maria' website. What happens when you try to go to <https://www.sweetmarias.com/store/>?

That doesn't work on my Mac or my PC.
A few months ago Sweet Maria's broke
their website. I reported it right away,
and got no response. If they want to
blow off part of their customer base,
that's their decision. I would have
been happy to have continued being a
customer, but I'm not going to buy a
new computer or an iPhone to do it.

An old version of Safari on an iBook G4.
Less than a year ago, SM's website
worked perfectly. Several months ago,
they did a major revamp which hid all
the pricing information except the 1 lb.
price, but I could at least see the
decriptions of the coffees offered.
The format was rendered pretty badly.
They said it was to support mobile users.
Then, they switched from http to https
addresses, which broke the links I saved,
but that was eaily worked around. But
the final straw was a few months ago.
I can't see it at all now.

Thanks. I'll look into those.

I considered this place, but haven't ordered from them:

http://www.smokinbeans.com/

I did just buy 16 lbs from this seller:

http://www.mypapascoffee.com/

I bought it through eBay, where this seller sells
a lot of coffee. It arrived today, so I haven't
tried it yet. I'll post once I've done a batch.
I just roasted a batch of my old stuff this morning,
so that won't be for a few days.

I did my first roast a few hours ago.
I've just tried my first cup. I know
it's unfair to judge a coffee that hasn't
had time to age, but it's pretty good.
I'm used to various Sumatran coffees that
I bought from Sweet Maria's (and which
I'd have continued buying if they hadn't
screwed up their website), so obviously
this Nicaraguan coffee would be a change.
I'm used to a pretty heavy coffee, but
this is good too. I roasted to the same
level as I usually do, but I might go
lighter next time. Sumatrans usually get
bitter at lighter roasts, this coffee
doesn't show any sign of that. It's
lighter and has more complexity -- I'll
have to see how I like it after it ages
and I've gotten used to it. I like it
now, and at about half the price I can
afford to drink a lot more. I think I'll
be buying quite a bit of this coffee.
