Difference between Mocha and Mocca?
(too old to reply)

On the Dutch ng nl.dranken.koffie is a short discussion going on 'Mocha
flavour'.

Somebody came up with the following URL: http://www.intercoffee.co.uk/types/
This website makes a distinction between Mocha and Mocca. Frankly I had
never seen Mocha spelled Mocca, but they possibly are two different things,
or aren't they?

Can anybody help us out, please?

Thanks!

The more frequent debates here are the proper ingredients for a
Mocha-Java blend and whether "mocha" is a proper shorthand for
chocolate flavored coffee.

Mocha is the chocolate/coffee beverage or the beans that come from the
Yemen area that possess the chocolate overtones.

Mocca, when repeated over and over, is the sound a 1961 VW makes.

Yeah, it would be in desparate need of a tuneup by now . . .

as both words are transliterations from arabic "al mukha" (itself
spelled several ways in english), i don't know as there'd be any
distinction (other than a strictly local one) between "mocha" and
"mocca".

Moka, Mokkha, Mokha, Mocca, Mocha,... heck, spell it any way you want.
It's an Aribic word (I assume) so there is no single standard
romanized spelling. It is my understanding that Moka is the name of
the ancient port city from which Yemeni coffee was once shipped, and
the name has stuck. It (usually spelled "mocha") has also somehow come
to mean chocolate flavored coffee, which usage has always mystified
me.

But I like Randy's answer better .....
Mocca! Mocca! Mocca! Mocca! Mocca! ...and over the hill I go in my
little bug.

I was perusing sweet marias and found this little tidbit from Tom.
Still kind of new at these links, hope it works.
