Krups Nespresso Type 554 - HELP!

My partner has a KRUPS Nespresso machine in brand new condition (never
used) so I decided to give it a run through to see how it worked (we
have no PODS yet). I was able to obtain a PDF of the manual from a
similar machine from the nice lady on the phone at the NESPRESSO
club...

So off I went to fire it up. I filled the water tank and then plugged
it in. It lit up fine and, after a while, the red light stopped
flashing indicating it was up to temp. I felt the machine was warm, a
good sign, I thought. All I wanted to do was ensure it would pump
water and steam.

Well, I put a cup under the securely locked pod holder and pressed the
larger cup button. The machine "clicked" and then.... nothing. I
left it on for over an hour, and no change. Click...Click. Thats it.

Since KRUPS parted ways from NESPRESSO, does anyone have ANY
suggestions on how to fix it? What could the issue be? Can I try and
monkey with it?

Many THanks

The pump has locked up from disuse. If you are handy you can, in this order:

1. remove the pump and knock it sharply on the bench - this sometimes frees
them up.

2. disassemble and reassemble the pump, descaling the parts if needed.

3. order a new pump - they are generic vibrating pumps.

You left out step 4.

Prepare to pay WAY too much for "just OK" coffee.

sounds like JUNK!

at least that is a consensus regarding anything from Krups (Kraps)
relating to COFFEE.

and tearing apart pumps is usually completely pointless.

and even if you got it working, it would still suck.

so there!

I really appreciate the tips and will give it a shot and report back.
