La Pavoni Domus Bar anyone?

Newbie here -- just came back from the last vacation in Italy and
decided that it's finally time to retire my drip coffee maker and get a
decent espresso maker instead. After surfing the bytes out of my ISP, I
understand that I probably should go for a Silvia and a Rocky. But then,
to me, the design is so-so.

Now I have discovered the Pavoni Domus Bar -- which looks beautiful to
me. But it appears no-one ever reviewed that machine before, I can't
even figure out what kind of grinder is in there...

Anyone ever seen or even better tried the Domus Bar? Any comments,
positive or negative, preferrably in comparison to the combo
Silvia/Rocky? Anyone willing to buy it and try it out for me? :-P

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Well, thanks anyway. I couldn't resist and have just ordered the Pavoni.
Hope you won't see it on eBay anytime soon...

I tried, but couldn't find any reference or reviews on Coffeegeek for
you, or anything other than sales blurb anywhere else on the 'net.

I could find loads on Cimbali Domus though...

Good luck with it.

Let us know what you think of the machine.... I had bought the Duet
after losing my former machine to a divorce! It was affordable and I
found mostly positive comments about it and have been reasonably happy
with it. The grinder is especially/surprisingly decent. I had been
thinking of the Domus in its other incarnations and know it's not
manufactured directly by LP but would be curious if you like the
machine.

The main reason I'd change from the Duet isn't really because the
shots aren't decent, but more of a tactile sort of thing as it's
rather plasticky and the fittings feel a bit light duty (nothing's
broken, though).

From what I can find, the Pavoni Domus Bar is a rebrand of the Imat
Mokita Combi (Napoletana II), with a couple extra features, such at
the pressure gauge, and metal toggle switches. Otherwise they look
pretty much identical.

Duh, I could have been figuring this myself -- I've seen the Mokita more
than once while searching around. Well, the reviews don't sound too bad
(even though I seem to have paid quite an extra for the design elements
if the machines are actually the same).

I'll let the ng (and especially you, Craig Schroeder) know what I think
of it once La Pavoni has executed shipment -- even though I might not be
_the_ reference since I'm used to drinking coffee in Hong Kong where
Espresso tends to be made of a "normal" coffee roast if you're lucky,
out of Nescaffe instant coffee if you hit average...

Tnx again,
HaJo
