The old coffee pot died - so I came here seeking help.
Already have a good expresso - Americano coffee maker, but in the mornings I
want a BIG pot!

My choices so far (unless convinced or enlightened otherwise):

Technivorm Thermo KB741
Bunn A10A
Bunn BT10

The Technivorm is of interest as it supposedely is endorsed by the Specialty
Coffee Association
The Bunn would be best if :
1.) It brewed hot enough
2.) It accomodated a very fine grind. (I love Edduccia coffee from
Germany)
I understand there is a flow restricter for the home unit. Not sure
if it fits the A10A.

Anyways - your suggestions / reviews are welcome.

I just use the plain old Mr. Coffee. For $15 makes the best cup of
Joe.

I don't know how many times , but a bunch, during my less than 2 years
in the Army, did I hear that this was the best food they had ever eaten.
And that was back in the late 60s when even the peas got deep fried.

In my experience, as well as every independent review I've read, just buy any
Krups or Braun that has the other features you want. Both brew at consistently
high temperatures.

We're currently using a 10-cup Braun with a thermal pot, and it's great. It
replaced a similar Krups that finally died.

Any machine, like many of the Bunns, that holds water at a raised temperature,
loses free oxygen from the water and produces flat-tasting coffee.

They one other important factor to me is to get a machine that uses cone
filters, not flat-bottomed filters. The flat-bottomed filter machines require a
*lot* more ground coffee to brew to the same strength, if they can do so at all.
I buy at least a dozen flat-bottomed filter machines a year, so I experience
this often 8;).

YMMV, and YOMBD.

Technivorm, unless you're serious about the "thermo" part.

After a year of use we could not be happier with this product.
Next to a (couple of) good grinder(s) it was one of our best
investments.
